Welcome Wolf Moon
The Wolf Moon cycle starts with the New Moon on Dec 30th, culminates in a Full Moon on Jan 13th and fades to start a new cycle on Jan 29th.
What is the Wolf Moon?
For many cultures, the first new moon after the Winter Solstice marked the beginning of the year. As the light grows, so too will we. And what better companion than the wolf to start us down the forest path.
Why is it called the Wolf Moon?
According to some traditions, the Wolf Moon got its name from the sounds of wolves turning their heads to the sky and howling. In some areas, they are especially vocal this time of year as it approaches their breeding season. This moon is also sometimes referred to as the “Moon After Yule,” “Old Moon,” and “Ice Moon.” This Collection’s content and resources will explore aspects of the wolf and begin establishing our narrative.
How can we celebrate it?
Go for a night walk! Get layered up, grab headlamps and maybe a blanket and hot thermos. Head out somewhere away from bright lights where you can see the moon in all its glory. if you're up for it, give a howl!
