How to measure your kiddo

Slide image

For the best fit, measure:

  • Height
  • Chest
  • Waist
  • Hip
  • Inseam

No measuring tape handy? Start with height and age. That’s enough for most kids.

Between sizes?

  • For longer wear → size up
  • For a closer fit → size down

Wildhaven pieces are designed to grow with your child, so a little extra room at first is totally normal.

What does "grow-with-me" sizing mean?

Our clothes start small and get bigger as kids grow - from foldable cuffs to stretchy waistbands. Kids grow fast. Their clothes should, too!

Extra Long Cuffs

Fold them at first, then roll them down as your child grows.

Soft Wide Waistbands

Comfortable now, with enough give to last longer through size changes.

Raglan Sleeve Seams

An easy fit through the body makes everyday wear more forgiving.

How long do they fit?

Most kids wear their Wildhaven layers across multiple seasons. The fit may look a little roomier at first, then more fitted as they grow. Here's what some of our Wildhaven families have seen:

  • 6–18m: about 1–1.5 years
  • 2–4T: about 2–3 years
  • 4–6Y: about 2–3 years
  • 6–9Y: about 3–4 years
  • 9–12Y: about 3–4 years

FAQ

Do I need to size up for layering?

Not usually. Our mid layers are designed to layer comfortably over base layers. If your kiddo is at the very top of a size range or you plan to layer thicker pieces underneath, sizing up can make sense.

Will it look big at first?

At the beginning of a size range, sleeves or legs may feel slightly long. That’s intentional. Cuffs roll easily, and the fit adjusts as your child grows.

What if my child is tall and slim?

String bean? Use height first. Our merino wool has natural stretch, and base layers are designed to move with the body.

What if my child is chunkier through the middle?

Sweet pea? Start with height, then consider the upper end of that size range if needed. Our waistbands are soft and forgiving.

Shop by fit, not guesswork.

All of our kids’ layers use the same grow-with-me fit system.
